Hospitality House is celebrating 2 years of serving families in medical crisis
Hospitality House of Tulsa is celebrating 2 years of providing a ‘home away from home’ for families caring for loved ones in medical crisis. You can help us celebrate this milestone by:
1) Dropping off 2items from our needs list. (You will find this list on the “ways to help” tab here on the website).
2) Making a cash donation of any denomination of 2. $2, $20, $200, $2000, $20,000, etc! (Please click on the “Donate Now” button on the left column).
3) Telling 2 people, who may have never heard, about Hospitality House of Tulsa and its mission!

Hospitality House of Tulsa Staff
Mysti Sheppard – Administrative Assistant /Volunteer Coordinator
Mysti was born in Tulsa and lived in Sand Springs until April of 1998 when her family moved to Bartlesville to begin a church plant. While living in Bartlesville and working in the church she developed a passion to reach out and help individuals in need.
During her senior year in high school, Mysti started an outreach program for at-risk teenage girls which quickly grew into a full time ministry opportunity for her. With a base of about 60 girls, Mysti directed weekly bible studies, volunteer programs for the girls and mentored the girls in many ways. Mysti has also held various part-time administrative positions with different business owners while attending college.
In April of 2008 Mysti made the decision to move back to Sand Springs to direct the youth and young adult programs in a local church. She is also attending college part-time to pursue her degree in Psychology. She says that she feels like her position at The Hospitality House is the perfect opportunity for her to continue helping individuals in need. She enjoys the variety of tasks that await her every day and above all the opportunity to interact with the volunteers and families on a day to day basis.
Debbie Diskerud – Family Care Coordinator
Debbie Diskerud is our new Family Care Coordinator who comes to us from Anchorage, Alaska, where she was in full-time ministry with her husband for over 10 years. She also was an RN in the pediatric field for 20 years. She especially loves her job at Hospitality House of Tulsa because she can take the experience she has gained in both her previous fields and use that to better help the guests she comes in contact with as Family Care Coordinator. Along with her wonderful husband of 18 years, she has 2 teenage children, ages 15 and 13, who bring her much joy and busyness.
Laura Read – Housekeeper
Laura Read is from Sand Springs, OK. She is an eighteen year old student attending Tulsa Community College. She is very involved in her church community at Osage Hills Christian Church in West Tulsa. Laura enjoys spending time with her family and friends and taking pictures. She plans to graduate from TCC and transfer to the University of Central Oklahoma to pursue photography. Laura loves her new job as house keeper at The Hospitality House because she considers it a blessing to be able to serve others everyday in the name of Christ.
