Four years ago, Tulsa firefighter John Buck was diagnosed with a rare form of head and neck cancer. He sought treatment out of state, which required him and his wife to relocate over 500 miles away from home for weeks on end. Without the support and sacrifice of family, friends, and the Tulsa Fire Department, John’s 50 days of active treatment would have been infinitely more difficult. The compassion and hospitality of others enabled him to receive the care he needed. John is continuing to give back to his community and help others in similar medical crises by kicking off the fourth-annual “Half a Hundred for Hospitality” on March 20th, benefitting the families served by The Hospitality House of Tulsa. Through “Half a Hundred,” the community is encouraged to get involved in the cause by committing to do different fitness reps such as push-ups, pull ups, sit ups, etc for 50 consecutive days, beginning March 20th and ending May 8th at the 50 Day celebration held at Univeristy of Tulsa's Chapman Stadium. Participants can join the challenge, log their progress, and invite their friends, family, and co-worker to support their challenge at http://half-a-100.kintera.org
